World-class dive sites on a dream island near Bali

There are plenty of beautiful dive sites around Nusa Penida. The most famous destinations are Manta Point and Crystal Bay. We make daily excursions to Manta Point and naturally visit Crystal Bay frequently considering the diving conditions of the day. Although Nusa Penida is especially known for its manta rays and mola molas (the oceanic sunfish), the diving there is overall fantastic. Visibility at Nusa Penida is usually very good (10m-40m) and coral reefs are better preserved than in many other places. You can admire the colourful coral gardens beyond the reach of the eye. Common inhabitants of the reefs of Nusa Penida include for example turtles, moray eels, scorpionfish, bufferfish, frogfish, anthias fish, nudibranches, sweetlips, trumpetfish, batfish and rays. There is also an excellent opportunity to encounter different reef sharks, barracudas, tunas and humphead wrasses.

Nusa Penida is known for its currents and you can experience really long and speedy drift dives at Nusa Penida. Surrounding currents and depth of the sea affect the water temperature, and although the average water temperature is usually 26-27 degrees, the temperature may drop 4-5 degrees lower during the dive. Water temperatures are lowest from June to October and warmest from November to February. The dive center’s wetsuits are usually 3 mm and usually those are enough. If you tend to freeze easily while diving, it may be a good idea to pack 5mm wetsuit or hood with you.

While Nusa Penida is a dream dive destination for more experienced divers, there are also easier dive sites for the more inexperienced divers. The Sanctum team knows when it is safe to dive at any destination and the day’s dives are planned with the safety in mind.

After the video, you will find more detailed information about the best dive sites in Nusa Penida.
